    How to start getting investors?

Hi there, I do have great business ideas. How I can start approaching investors? What do I need to prepare?

    Hi Jj,

First of all, make sure you’re targeting the right investors.

There are several things you should check and bear in mind:

    (1) Check if the firm is investing in your industry. It’s useless to pitch an edtech project to a VC that invests only in life science technologies. You’ll not get a deal even if the investor loves your company.

    (2) Also, quite often investors have geography limitations and do not invest in companies outside the particular location.

    (3) There are some stage-agnostic firms, but usually they focus on startups at a specific stage of development.

    (4) Sometimes, VCs are willing to be the first outside investor or the only investor in your round.

Shortlist relevant investors using any available online database like the one we have at ezVenture and send a message to each.

I highly recommend getting a warm introduction from the investor’s network as it’s the easiest way to reach them through. Cold emails work much worse. VCs would also like to see a referral from your previous investors or someone you are proud of.

In any case, carefully read all available information on the investor’s website before sending them an email.

    Jj,

So far you can use the ezVenture database to get your list of plausible investors. You can select angel groups or VCs that make investments in your particular domain.

In the closest time, we're going to extend the database functionality by adding additional filters and you'll be able to shortlist investors that focus on your funding round and invest in your geography.

Also, we're currently working on additional services for early-stage startups. For example, we're planning to launch an automated tool that helps to organize and structure the content of your initial communication with the investor. We'll provide multiple tips and recommendations so that you'd get far more chances that the recipient will likely read your entire message and not delete it after a few sentences of reading as it, unfortunately, happens quite often.
